SOUTH PORTLAND – The South Portland Economic Development Committee is seeking nominations for its annual awards night, which will take place in January 2022. The deadline for nominations is November 9th.
The city’s 2021 Annual Business and Economic Development Awards seek out businesses that âmoveâ the community forward, the committee said.
“We ask that you take a few minutes to reflect on the companies in South Portland who have continued to demonstrate perseverance, creativity and entrepreneurship in our community and beyond by reviewing this year’s award categories.” , said the committee.
Categories for the 2021 awards include âNew Business of the Year Award,â âBusiness Leader of the Year Award,â âSmall Business of the Year Award,â âBusiness Award of the Year, ââ Santo ‘Sam’ DiPietro Community Impact Award, âand theâ SoPo Sustainability Award, âsaid South Portland Economic Development.
The âSanto ‘Sam’ DiPietro Community Impact Award reflects a company’s ability to improve the city, the committee said.
âNominees for this award can be an individual, business, agency, organization, community, or non-profit corporation, who have done their best to make the South Portland business community and community overall a better place to live, work and settle. a business, âsaid South Portland Economic Development. âConsideration may include expanding and / or diversifying the workforce, improving health and environmental sustainability, and / or other contributions. “
The SoPo Sustainability Award nominees are companies that prioritize sustainable methods and strive to positively change the environment, the committee said.
âPractices include, but are not limited to, waste reduction, pollution mitigation, adoption of clean energy, water conservation, tree planting, sustainable use of materials. , LEED / well construction, sourcing of locally produced food and products, support for employee initiatives and catering / net positive activities, âthe committee said.
