NORTH LOGAN — She’s been in the job for about three weeks now, and on KVNU’s For the People program on Thursday, North Logan Mayor Lyndsay Peterson said it’s been a busy one. One of the areas of continued focus has been economic development.
“I think economic development, in general, is kind of a relationship-based game. And so trying to continue those relationships that we have with the businesses currently there, trying to bring more businesses to North Logan, especially in the midst of a transition, is always going to be a challenge. Corn it’s a real priority of the city right now, just making sure that we bring jobs, we bring access to services and goods,” she said.
Peterson said it’s beneficial for everyone to have these businesses nearby. She said one way to attract new business is to create a city brand.
“I think a very big part of that for us in terms of branding, was deciding to build a new downtown,” she explained. “It’s going to be a big deal in my opinion, just to have a place where people can come and say, ‘OK, it’s North Logan.’ Right now it’s a conference room shared by every single person who works in the city is in a nice little room. I don’t know if I can overstate how important that will be.
She said it would be a significant improvement in making room for their municipal offices, library and a new community center. Moreover, the police station will also be close to this.
